Tauranga Moana Biosecurity Capital
Tauranga Moana Biosecurity Capital (TMBC) was launched in November 2018, with support from the BioHeritage Challenge and many other partners.
TMBC is a broad collaboration between iwi, community groups, industry, agencies, educators and scientists, plus encompasses the Port of Tauranga’s biosecurity partnership that includes the BioHeritage Challenge and B3.
A big goal for BioHeritage is to help strengthen Aotearoa New Zealand’s biosecurity system with end-to-end scientific solutions. Collaboration is central to how BioHeritage will achieve its goals and TMBC is an exemplar for regional collaboration and partnership.
“It makes a lot of sense for us to connect with collectives such as TMBC – to ensure that science plays a central role in biosecurity solutions,” says BioHeritage Director Dr Andrea Byrom.
“TMBC has formed around recognition that it takes a community to successfully tackle biosecurity threats – that we all need to be vigilant and play our part. This approach is also central to our philosophy.”
